Morning all ...

A red ball sunrise this morning ...

Watched with the first coffee of the day, at 07:05 am local time, as it poked its brightness over Skopelos. Slowly turning from Red to Orange then a brilliant yellow. Which started the wind machine within a few seconds, a refreshing breeze ...

Skopelos where I was yesterday, off 'the rock' to the larger rock, in a stiff breeze and gazing over to Alonissos, which I would love to visit again. Skopelos swathed in cloud, just like it was in October, when I was last over there ...

What a different rock it is to this one, pine trees everywhere, scattered olive groves, clearly well maintained for the autumn crop. Heaps of firewood drying in the sun destined for winter warmth. Managed bee hives around Loutraki, gorse hillsides which were black a few years ago from the summer forest fires. Now green again ...

Chatting about the islands with fellow travelers, having fun with bus drivers that Ioannis apo Skiatho, was on Skopelos without a passport.

Helping out with an emergency, and a sudden required urgent transfer back to Skiathos, and routes back to the UK. Somehow we pulled it off, and they were on the way back to Manchester last night from Athens ...

Ioannis went to the famous church, the one they used for Mamma Mia, and up to the top, I rung the bell, and back down again.

Off to Panormos, a quick glance at Michael Carroll the author's house, the home of the 'Gates of the Wind' cruelly renamed 'On the shores of Skopelos' because of the Mamma Mia thing ...

Lovely yachts moored in Panormos bay, after a great meze lunch, chat about sailing with a fastnet racer, about our sailing days, the minquiers and Alderney tidal race. As we cruised back home into the evening sun ...

Amazing who you meet on a lovely day here and there, around 'the rock' ...

Previous Blog: Meet and Greet ...

PS: Four more Fridays left and its all over. Have already had two Καλή Χειμώνας so far (Have a good winter) Its September 6th ...
