Goldfish ...

You do not find many Goldfish on a Greek Island ...

But in the last 24 hours, i have seen quite a few. Out last night i passed the pet shop, near the ring road. There in a large tank, by the window were some fancy goldfish.

This morning we went for coffee - at Goldfish bar, there swimming round in clockwise circles - two goldfish. As i sat outside i remembered where i had seen some more ...

Up at Taxiacharis is a fresh water spring, where many of us collect water, this stream feeds a sterna. In the sterna earlier in the summer, much to my surprise were around 20 fan tailed goldfish.

One morning, when i was up there along came a man in a truck, he lowered a pipe into the sterna. He started a pump and filled a tank on the back of his pick up truck with water. Now he got a bit twitchy, as i had a camera - so his activities may not be exactly legal ...

When i looked on Sunday, there were noticeably less fish swimming in the sterna. So this morning as i sipped my cappuchino in the sun, i contemplated the following.

Did the fan tails make it to the pet shop, or has anyone turned on the cold tap from their freshly topped up sterna, and recieved a fantail in their washing up ...
