Wet Wet Wet ....

The rain has arrived ...

Its windy again too. Its the first rain since July 7th, and will be giving the island a spruce up. Removing the dust and flushing the storm drains.


Hopefully swelling the remaining olives, which have been dropping from the trees in 'Olive year' due to the heat and drought conditions. Yesterdays winds stripping the trees, of the much loved island crop ...

Well it is the 'Assumption'  Bank Holiday weekend. Normally its the Brits who are the islands highest proportion of visitors, however this weekend it should be the Greeks from the mainland. So you can guess who they will be blaming for the unseasonable weather ...

As one noble island correspondent has said - 'Its been tippng it down all night, and this morning, Its plastic mac time in Papa D st today' ...

So if you are on the island, and have not got one, get out quick and make that all important holiday purchase. If you arrived from Luton via Athens - Its not been your trip so far, but rest assured the sun will be out again soon ...

More fun at the airport this morning, after yesterdays flying display. Two diversions this morning, both weather related. Austrian to Athens and Blue Panorama to Thessaloniki, due to the wind and rain. The Scandies are on their way too ...

Late News: Local word has it, that the Nunki station anometer, is embeded in the side of the airport control tower ...

  1. Ian, if you look at those weather graphs, you will see that they are out of date. Nunki has been down since 10:00 am yesterday (Friday).
