Monsoon what next ...

The clean up continues today ...

Many stories about yesterday and what happened, boat trips and the storms, always make great reading. Trees being struck by lightning, 'just like in the films'

'We don't have storms like that at home' someone said to me last night. That's because you have heat here which makes the storm more violent. Its the same principle as a hurricane heat triggers the storm, and feeds it.

My favourite is when you see the pink lightning, that's a lot of energy being released in one place. You have not had a Skiathos holiday, unless you have experienced a Skiathos storm.

If you saw two blokes on a motorbike yesterday in Papadamatis street, sheltering from the tempest, with a red beach umbrella as they went - you met the Skiathian. We got quite an ovation for our ingenuity,  as we passed the bars and cafes ...

Looking ahead. Saturday looks like a very stormy day again, if the current forecast comes true.

The best Skiathos forecast is the one where you look out of the window, not on the various weather apps, the storms yesterday came on the island from the south west.  Many are online from UK, saying what they think the weather will be like here, in the next few days, 'nothing to worry about, it will be sunny' even the BBC cannot say that in the UK.

It's a shame all that water could not be captured, the water supplies are very low. Its the wrong kind of rain for this water needy island ...
