Friday 13th ...

Yes we were warned ...

So last one until 2049, and it was a stunner tonight. First though we had to deal with all the people that are a little crazy on days like this. It was a day of daft questions, and amazing conversations with people here on cheap holidays who had not had time to do any research.

Today's bargain break couple had secured their holiday, two weeks self catering for an amazing £220! there are legions of Skiathos loving friends who have booked in advance, and paid a lot more than that for the privilege. They were a little upset, as the day after they booked (Tuesday) the two week package dropped to £180 ...

I cannot remember bargain break holidays like this since the days of Kosmar. Lets hope the plumbing works as someone said the other day. The 'great sage' had his bargain holiday last week, perhaps he is regretting not waiting another week ...

Its been a day of farewells to many good friends, as they head off home. Paul and his 'twenty titles' Steve the 'great sage' aka the townboy, Lesley and her mum Kathleen. Bravo to Lesley for clearing out the island stockpiles of fresh olive bread. Only to pay for it at the airport for being one kilo over on the scales ...

A great day at the airport with the departing aircraft soaring over the harbour, then many of them, climbing out over the island giving everyone a last look at the beaches.

Todays was Juniors last day at school, the children start their twelve week break today. Yes I can hear the cries of moral outrage. Well its hot, the children cannot concentrate, so lets go on holiday - Not a bad idea ...

This morning, there was a play held for the parents, each child individually read poems, and a song to wish the parents and teachers καλό καλοκαίρι - Good Summer. Lots of hugs and cuddles, as children said emotional goodbyes. I am amazed how well Junior speaks Greek, better than her native language. The teachers clearly impressed, along with many mentions of great athleticism - which we are very aware of.

Next will be the swimming classes on Kolios beach, that should upset a few people. However the school and the council are very keen that all the children learn to swim. Living on an island, that's of great importance, as there are 65 beaches to enjoy on that twelve week break ...

The conformance to EU regulations is slowly making its mark. The childrens play area has been removed by the port. Probably due to safety issues and the age of the equipment. Lets see if our new Mayor who is a paedeotrician, can do something for the children, be securing some funds to reinstate the place with all the correct features ...

This evening there was a play held at the bourtzi, the children performing and dancing on the stage. A great night by all accounts. SWMBO & Junior enjoyed the performance.

Tonight after explaining to some tourists, where in Greece they were, and why its so expensive. I headed off for a beer, the mighty FIX evaporated through the pores, like steam. I am drinking two bottles of water a day now, that's three litres. Yet still waking with cramp.

The dehydration, as the summer heat increases is taking effect ...
