Palm Sunday ...

Church bells ringing, with great enthusiasm this morning ...

The 6:15 peel must have been Pappa Yorgos, slow and dignified, rather like the gentleman pulling the bell ropes. The 7:00 peel, much faster, and a stronger use of the bell clapper. The sound echoing up the street.

Saturday morning having been a moderate disaster after a tap pipe broke. It had corroded, and the leak which had flooded the floor, that morning became a high pressure jet of hot water.

Tap and pipes replaced, by Spiros swiftly and efficiently. A beer deposited into the toolbox, and a 'pay me later' as he departed for the next job.

We must have the cleanest kitchen floor in the street. One benefit of tiled flooring, when a leak occurs, as they do when the water has a saline content, and comes into contact with metal fittings ...

Saturday afternoon, was spent with friends enjoying a leisurely lunch in the sunshine. Lots of people enjoying the sun, before big week, and work starts for many. Lots of 'are you working here/there questions' as they try to work out who is going where, for how much and when ...

Introduced to a couple on their way to Skopelos. I mentioned friends at Skopelos news. So John G when I mentioned you and Daphne, the first "are you Skiathian" of 2014 was delivered ...

Later one of my Greek island friends called. In need of medical tests, the equipment he needs at the hospital on the mainland is broken. Apparently for months, he has to wait like hundreds of others. €150 return trip to see a doctor, that cannot progress the treatment that he needs ...

Tonight more of the 'Boomerang club' fly in for Pasca. Educator is in Athens, researching meze`s. AMT en-route from Heathrow shortly. I hope they have remembered to bring a torch for arrivals here in Skiathos later this evening ...
