Spring clean ...

We started yesterday, giving the house a 'Birthday' ...

Living on an island you get all kinds of things appear in the house, small cocoons, spiders nests, eggs laid by an insect on the wooden beams. A hibernating hornet on one occasion. All have to be removed from their hiding places. Damp rises through the old walls of the house. This has to be cleaned very well from the walls, before it becomes a problem ...

The dehumidifier had a deep clean too, as it has been struggling of late. The mighty dyson as well, and now needs new filters. Greece is a dusty environment most of the time, and in winter the ash from the fire helps to clog things up ...

Ground floor inside completed yesterday before the second school run, Upstairs was planned for today ...

Naturally last night, its started to rain, on cleaned windows. At 2am this started to be much heavier, I know that because that is the time Junior said 'I dont feel well' and you know what happened next ...

I spent the next few hours cleaning up with SWMBO, and loading the washing machine. It seems Junior ate someone else's food at school, and this after a period decided it did not agree ...

So an eventful night with just a disturbed few hours sleep. This morning I feel like when I used to work nights. In that limbo between time periods, where you are not fully with it ...

I have been out to the bakery and up Papadamatis street. A lovely smile from one lady in one of the shops, that I have not visited for a while. Can't think why, I look terrible !

Its 11am and its started to pour with rain again, which is quite a relief. There is a female cat in season in the area, and the ongoing 'gang rape' taking place, by the local Tom's since yesterday is not exactly a pleasant spectacle for eyes or ears. At least the street is clear of stray marauding felines for a while ...

  1. Why don't the locals help more by taking cats including strays to be neutered? There are free neutering events several times a year. ..
