Island friends ...

Always take me by surprise ...

I try to share the simple things with friends. Yesterday some lovely grapes picked by Kay & Trevor, shared with a good friend Lady A. Tomatoes from the horsemen, with my neighbours. Some black pudding with Michael ...

That's the way it is, and for me its great fun.

Today a man I hardly know, gave us 5kg of freshly caught tuna. I am not talking small fishes here, it's a cutlet from a very large fish that he caught. I have no idea how much that would cost in Blighty, but it only just fits in our somewhat depleted freezer.

His mother also gave us two large home made spanakopitas, ready for the freezer. Last year we were the recipient, of some beautifully cured, and very tasty olives in olive oil.

How does the humbled Skiathian, follow that ...

  1. We also like to share things with our friends on the island, 2 weeks ago on Thursday we shared a table (& the bill!) for our usual last night of holiday meal at Jimmys in Ag P. (we also shared a few cheeky Tsipouros on Friday whilst waiting for our plane & nearly missed it!) Stuart has just texted me to let us know that him, Marianne & Nana, our dear dear friends (10 years nearly) are all popping along to Jimmys tomorrow or Friday for last night of season meal. Not jealous at all!! We know you usually make it there too so if you do, have a good night & raise a glass to Graham & Caroline. (and say Hi to Nikos & Nikos from us) Yamas.

    1. Hi Graham and Caroline, fancy you two sneaking a few cheeky tsipouro - Never ...
I know what you mean about Jimmys, and that secret bottle Nikos keeps, behind the bar. Sadly tonight will not be spent at Jimmys becoming a gambling wreck, with Stuart, Marianne and the gang. However will pass on your messages ...
      Best wishes
      Ian
