Holy Friday – Megali Pareskevi (1) ...

The mourning bell has been ringing solemnly since 12:30 pm ...

It reminds us of the special meaning of the day, shops and businesses normaly close from midday.

Tries Hieraches church is very busy as smartly dressed locals, visit to view the decorated Epitaphos, which has been prepared for tonights candle lit procession.

The coffee shops and bars are full, and the tavernas are serving just fish and shellfish dishes. Tsipouro and coffee are the drinks of the day. We are blessed again with lovely warm sunshine too on this holy day...

Here in Skiathos they follow the old tradition, and its magic to be here with your neighbours, walking the town tonight in a candlelit procession at 4am.
