Grey wet and wetter still ...

Woke up this morning to the dink dink dink sound of raindrops on the roof, slowly at first, then with an increasing intensity ...

Rain - to be honest, I do not mind, I had not checked the forecast - It does not matter at the moment.

After breakfast the street, had developed into a raging torrent, flowing down the hill. A very slow walk to the school and by that time, I was very wet indeed. Up to the ring road, the water going the other way coming down through town, was brown with mud being washed down from the hills.

After a squelch around Carrefour - (Well stocked in readiness for Wednesdays General strike). It was down through the ankle deep muddy water past the former Mrs Socks fruit market. Sadly she has moved on, but her socks would have been greatly appreciated today, as I had trench foot by then.

Back in town the fresh fish and vegetable sellers were well and truly soaked. Everyone in Papadiamantis street, either had big winter raincoats or enormous waterproofs, that went head to ankle.

Back home and the coat was drenched, the shopping too, and big drips falling from my cap onto the floor.

Later a trip to the harbour in torrential rain to meet the ferry. Clouds so far down the hills they were almost at the old cinema level (Yes there is another old open air cinema here) up yonder ...

A little while later off on the school run to pick up junior - soaked again, that making it, Three soakings this morning and rising damp at knee level.

So woodburner lit and on woodmark 4, to dry everyone out, clothing too - more logs may be needed - Its one of those days, the rain has now stopped but its still cold and windy ...

Later update: 19:40 local - One roasted chicken and a glass of red later - Is there anything better for the soul ? Wind still whistling round the town alleyways, locals dressed in overcoats, holding the collar over their mouth. Its nippy but the locals are feeling it more than anyone. Woodburner on now for eight hours - Toasty ...
