Breezy ...

The weather changed again last night ...

I had spent the late afternoon at altitude, with Yorgos lining up a target in earth orbit. The sun was setting and the breeze was starting to get stronger. We paused as the Island hopper flew by, arriving from Athens. Strange to be looking down on an aircraft as it passes by, lower than you are.

The Express Skiathos was belching out fumes as its heady winter mix of Diesel and Kerosene, polluted the skies.

Overnight it has been very breezy, and the mighty woodburner was eating our supplies at an alarming rate. The latest delivery not the quality of the previous one. Forecasts are for it to become much colder, in the next week. Normally the last week of January see's a Siberian blast ...

Tries Hieraches Church, was busy this morning was busy for the Papadamatis service, mentioned yesterday.

In Papadamatis street, the fruit and veg sellers were wrapped up against the cold. Shielded from the sunshine they were well protected from the chilly air. Once again some excellent quality prawns on the fish stall.

Despite the winds overnight, the lemon trees have retained their crop - or someone beat me to the windfalls.

Sunshine, after earlier wintry looking ice clouds. So a good time to fire up the chainsaw, for the first time this year. Soon I had a nice pile of logs, from the big branch, that was part of the Mulberry tree at Taverna Alexandros. Time to invest in a new chainsaw blade as this one is now exhausted. Logs stacked and stored, and the street swept of sawdust, under the eagle eye of the elderly ladies.

This afternoon, a hot chocolate and catch up with some island friends, some expecting snow here on the island this week. I doubt it but we will see ...

Later update:
Stig has been in touch from Norway. He has been busy with the chainsaw too. I cannot compete, but wish that I had access to such nice looking firewood ...
