Strike day 1 ...

Its a national strike - of sorts

Details posted on the Athens News site detail the plans, however its a bit hit and miss, as far as we are concerned.

Taxis, National Bank, Schoolteachers, petrol stations and the Post office are on strike.

However

Alpha and Emporiki banks are open. Flying Dolphin, and the Flying Cat 6 are running.

There are huge riots in Athens, which we see on TV, and we get texts and calls from family and friends enquiring after our welfare. Yet here the sun is shining, in fact its like a public holiday, or a very busy Sunday  Everyone is sitting in the sun in the cafes enjoying a coffee - or at the Ouzerie enjoying something a little stronger.

Rest assured, there are no petrol bombs at the price they charge here ...
