Only 35.9C ...

or 95.9F in the real world ...

Its getting cooler and the humidity section of the thermometer has died a death - It says 'EE' which i thought was reserved for some types of model.

House still spic and span and no sign of guests.

Did i mention the mother in law is en route 12 hours into her epic 36 hour journey by bus. How is that for a spectracular double booking by the lady of the house.

I am off to meet her in Larissa on Friday before making an epic - if desperate dash for the 8pm Flying Dolphin from Volos.

The other guests have now departed Athens by bus and are en route - for the evening Flying Cat. I have made some unnoficial amendments, to the layout within the house, and will, await the fall out later ...

Friends en route ...

Yes do visit us you say ...

Then someone takes up the option, and a full military "Prepare the house operation" gets under way. Now we have been preparing until 2am and in the heat of the day. The house is 'spic and span' and there is an official "Do not touch or eat anything" from she who must be obeyed

And the guests ...

They are in somewhere in Athens, their mobile phones do not work, no access to e-mail and will probably be here tomorrow, either on the lunchtime Flying cat, the Panagia Parou, or the evening Flying Cat.

They booked their tickets from London months ago, yet the other day despite months of us warning found them being surprised that the 32 seater plane is full - After all the planes like the ferries are very full - its peak season after all ...

Looks like i will be spending time down on the harbour a lot more than i had planned ...

Fiscal tightening of belts ...

A friend walks into the bank, and asks to buy $200 US with €'s. He lives on the island all year round and needed some dollars.

However they turn him away as they do not know him - You see he is not their customer. He asks why they are exchanging cash for strangers (Tourists) for € - "That is different" ...

So on to - Bank no 2

"Go to your own bank - we have no foreign money" (Surprising)

So on to - Bank no 3

His own bank, he is a customer - "Go away and come back in two hours"

Welcome to fiscal tightening of belts, or Island based currency controls - whichever you prefer ...
