The storm goes on and on and on ...

We appear to have escaped the worst ...

Nature has been venting its fury for 24 hours now, TV is showing us that Greece has taken a battering from the elements.

However we have so far escaped the torrential rain that was forecast for the afternoon and evening. The wind is still rattling the shutters and its much colder than yesterday.

Its been the kind of day where you throw another log on the fire, and enjoy a glass of red wine. Only i was up early, met a builder friend, went shopping on the ring road, and spent a few hours this afternoon under a warm duvet catching up on sleep.

I was met on the doorstep by one of my lovely neighbours this morning. She must be in her eighties, yet she brings me firewood, and kindling for the fire. Today she gave me some logs, and she will not take no for an answer.

Tomorrow i will give her a madeira cake, made with the lemons she gave me. Its small recompense, but hopefully appreciated. Maybe as it gets colder i can relocate some of the logs back to her too ...
