The medical centre ...

Today we made our way up to the medical centre ...

Its not a hospital by the UK style, more like a cottage hospital. I think it serves the community very well. However in summer it is stretched to its limits and beyond by tourism, and 60,000 extra people having 'slips trips and falls' and sometimes worse events.

Today we went to see the paedatrician - and here on Skiathos you have two choices, Dr Panayotis or Dr Prevanzanos. I decided sometime ago we would use the Greek health service route, and met Dr Panayotis.

I have been very impressed with him, and he is a very busy man indeed. In fact today he has undertaken 141 inoculations that and two clinics.

He spends two days a week here on Skiathos, two on Skopolos, and commutes here from Volos. Somehow he always manages to remember the childrens names at his clinic and if you see him on the ferry, he always has time for a quick chat and asks if all is well.

There are some lovely people you meet on the island, and this man is one of them ...
